RCC's Library Catalog

Search the RCC Library Catalog for books and media (DVDs, etc.) physically shelved in the Library.

Included are bibliographic details  (author, title, publishing information, contents notes, subject headings assigned to items for precision subject searching) and location information (where in the library an item is shelved and its call number, that is, subject-area number).

E-BOOKS (electronic books) can also be searched in the Library Catalog that you can then link to immediately, conveniently online.

LIBRARY CATALOG:

For Books & Other Items on UGANDA

KEYWORD search on ugandaAs of March 2010, 48 items (books, e-books, or media items) are listed, with the most recently published or issued listed first.  Click on any of the titles listed to see more information about this title.

On the resulting screen, click on the FULL RECORD tab to see a complete description (full "bibliographic record") for the item.  From this FULL RECORD screen, be sure to note the words and phrases to the right of the label SUBJECT.  These are the official "Library of Congress Subject Headings" (or "indexing terms" in the RCC Library Catalog) assigned to this title.

Click on those SUBJECT HEADINGS likely to give you information you want to see other RCC Library items assigned these same subject headings and so about these same subjects.

SUBJECT SEARCH in the Library Catalog directly by clicking on the down arrow to the right of KEYWORD and from the drop-down menu, click on SUBJECT.  Then in the textbox type the official LC subject heading: uganda.

What results is a list of subject headings used in the RCC Library Catalog that begin with the word "uganda."  As of March 2010, there are 21 such subject headings in the Riverside Library.

Note that when there's only one item assigned one of these subject headings, the title of this item is listed right next to the subject heading.  But if there's more than one item assigned a given subject heading, the titles for these items are NOT listed.  To see these items - and for more information about any of the items listed, click on the hypertext subject heading listed.

For E-Books on UGANDA

E-BOOKS ("electronic books") - that is, those available full text online - are listed in the RCC Library Catalog, along with hardcopy books - those physically shelved in the RCC Library.

In the Library Catalog and looking at an initial, simple results list, items that are e-books are donoted with a hypertext link WEBSITE rather than a "location / call # / status."  When clicking on an e-book title in the Library Catalog, on the resulting screen is a label: AVAILABLE ONLINE, underneath which is a link: Connect to electronic book

When clicking on this link, on the resulting page, you can then click on link in NetLibrary, our e-books system, to view the e-book title from the Library Catalog you just selected.

NETLIBARARY can be searched directly from LAMP's Electronic Resources / e-Books - then clicking on NetLibrary (NOTE: There's link directly to NetLibrary below this explanation).

What results is NetLibrary's initial BASIC SEARCH screen. To search for NetLibrary for e-books that someplace in their description or full text at least mention Uganda, do the following:

In the textbox, set to search FULL-TEXT, simply type the keyword: uganda

As of March 2010, what results are 1,415 NetLibrary full-text books that somwhere in their description or full text have the keyword uganda - and, therefore, at least mention or give some information about Uganda.
